A major collaboration between Temple University’s BeHeardPhilly℠ and the Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity’s (CEO) birthed the Community Needs Assessment. The Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity’s (CEO) mission is to align the city’s efforts to lift individuals and communities out of poverty and increase opportunities for low income individuals and families.
The goals of the CNA are: 1) Survey individuals living in six targeted communities in Philadelphia, and 2) Help the City better understand some of the challenges faced by low-income residents of Philadelphia in efforts to provide residents with effective programs and services.
BeHeardPhilly℠ launched the survey to BeHeardPhilly℠ members and to the open public via field team outreach, social media, KEYSPOTS, and community centers. The survey first asked respondents to choose three potential challenge that they are members of their household might have faced in the last 12 months.
